Mayumi Talks at 98B
Currently the chief curator for the Koganecho Bazaar, yearly public art festival in Yokohama, since 2008. Her curatorial practice facilitates and observes the contact between art and local communities. She has curated public art projects with emerging artists from Japan and Asian countries and has also been designing an international artist-in-residence program that promotes information exchange and awareness for artists and public. Mayumi also co-runs 98B.
Mayumi Hirano is a curator and program coordinator of the Koganecho Area Management Center since 2009. After completing her graduate studies at Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College, she has worked as a curatorial intern at New Museum, NY, curatorial staff at the Yokohama Triennale 2005, and researcher for Asia Art Archive. She is currently working on to develop a project and research residency program in 98B.
